How to effectively treat acne to prevent scars and pits

You might wonder if it's possible for an acne not to leave a scar, well it is possible and you will find how to effectively treat your acnes and avoid scarring in this article. You will also find what to do if your acne leaves a scar or a pit.

The best thing I did all week was not popping a painful pimple that surfaced on my forehead. I must say, it wasn't easy. In fact, it was so tempting to pop it and perhaps after popping it, I'll feel better (I thought).

What stopped me from popping my pimple? The load of information I've got concerning how popping a pimple could make it worse and it could also leave scars and pits.

The most effective method of avoiding scars and pits after a pimple episode is leaving it be.

Sometimes, when you pop a pimple, an acne or a zit, they become inflamed, some even turn into wounds that leave scars as they heal. So, it is much more better to leave the acne and let it heal gradually at its own pace.

Yet, there are some acne types that are stubborn and may not heal quickly if nothing else is done to it. In this case, try out the methods highlighted in the next few paragraphs.

How to treat and prevent acne scars

- Leave it: Try not to pop your acne as tempting as it could be, resist the urge to pop

- Use a good cleanser (face wash): Using a face wash that is not too acidic or basic will help keep your skin pH balanced at all times, thereby reducing the rate at which you get acnes or any breakouts for that matter. The less acne you have, the lower the chances of scarring.

- Use a toner: Especially for oily skin and sensitive skin types, using a toner will help balance your skin's pH and brighten your skin. Using an alcohol based cleanser could be too harsh and could cause a reverse effect when your skin is too dried out, so you may get more acnes instead of it being reduced.

A good toner will even out your skin tone, balance your skin's pH and reduce the rate at which you get acne, help the healing process of the acnes that you may have and fade the spots an acne may leave.

- Moisturize: Using a good moisturizer will keep your skin hydrated. There is a saying that " a hydrated skin is a healthy skin". Most face creams or moisturizes contain active ingredients that will treat acne and prevent future breakouts.

To treat acne, using benzyl peroxide has been proven to be effective. Benzyl Peroxide can be found naturally in Tea Tree Oil, that is why today, most natural skincare formulators include tea tree in their face care products.

Another ingredient to look out for in a moisturizer that will help treat acne is Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid is a BHA that is effective for treating acne. It will exfoliate and brighten acne scars, it will also clear the pores of acne causing bacteria.

Although not popularly spoken about, Allantoin has shown great ability to repair the skin, hydrate the skin and exfoliate the skin. Allantoin can be naturally found in comfrey and chamomile. This natural ingredient will be particularly helpful in fixing pits because of its skin regenerating abilities, fading acne spots because of its exfoliating abilities and preventing acne from surfacing because of its hydrating abilities.

If you get a skincare product that contains tea tree, salicylic acid and allantoin, then you'll be sure that acne won't stand a chance.

-Have a routine: Have your dermatologist or skin therapist draw up a routine for you. Following this routine will ensure that your skin is at its best at all times. Remember that to achieve a great skin, consistency is key.

- Visit your dermatologist: After trying out OTC treatments and your acne are still persistent and resistant, visit your dermatologist to seek proper treatment and care for your acne.

After doing everything you ought to do to prevent acne and to treat acne, if you do not stop the certain habits, you may have another acne episode just around the corner.

Simple habits that could help prevent acne

- Change your bed sheets and pillow cases regularly: Your sheets contain bacteria from your hair products and sweat, these bacteria could cause serious skin breakouts, so its best to avoid such by always changing your sheets.

- Avoid using excessive hair care products: Sometimes when you sweat, your hair care products get washed down to your face and neck, there are certain ingredients in your hair care products that may not be compatible with your skin, especially your face, the interaction between both may cause breakouts.

- Touching your face: Always taking your hands to your face may introduce bacteria to your pores, as a result, you may get episodes of acne. Its best not to always touch your face and if you must, ensure that your hands are clean.

- Using too much skincare products: Using too much skincare products may be the reason why you have certain skin problems. Try as much as possible to reduce your list to only what is necessary/ needed for your skin.
